Ruth Dwyer is a medical examiner for the Chicago Police Department. She was portrayed by Kathy Scambiatterra.
Biography[]
During Stepping Stone, Kim Burgess would come to her place of work and told Dwyer that Trudy Platt sent her. Kim would have Dwyer leave the room in order to give her a barf bag. But when she leaves Kim would take the ring off one of the corps as the body was of a relative of Platt's.
In Say Her Real Name, Dwyer would perform an autopsy on Felicia Hughes, a college student who fell to her death. She would tell both Adam Ruzek and Jay Halstead that there was alcohol and benzodiazepine in her system. She also tells the officers that there has been bruising behind her left Triceps, which indicates someone who if right-handed grabbed her forcibly. Ruzek asks her if she will declare this a homicide, but Dwyer tells him that she is unsure. She also tells them that Felicia didn't have much of a chance at fighting back because of all the alcohol in her system.
In The Three Gs, Dwyer would be called to a building to examine the bodies of six girls. She would tell Erin Lindsay and Antonio Dawson that the girls died from starvation and dehydration.
In Never Forget I Love You, Dwyer would perform an autopsy on a female, who was found in the river with her head separated from the rest of her body. She would tell Erin Lindsay and Jay Halstead that the victim the strangled. She also tells them that the holes in her body were made by a power drill in order for the body to sink, meaning however did this knew what they were doing.
