Reid Dryer is a thief and kidnapper who, along with his accomplice, Jason Woodley, kidnapped Hayden Tannenbaum and Allison Beck over a past debt Gordon Tannenbaum owed Reid. He is portrayed by Joseff Stevenson.

Background[]

Years before the events of the episode, he would do some petty crimes, along with his friend Jason Woodley until getting a job as a construction foreman. He would later be recruited by his supervisor Gordon Tannenbaum to recover the money that Gordon had lost after a fraud, but Reid would end up being arrested and Gordon would not come to his aid, resulting in him being imprisoned for armed robbery. A decade later, Reid would be released from prison, and along with Woodley would confront Gordon and demanding their part in the robbery. However, Gordon would refuse them, causing Reid to swear he'd pay. The two decided to hit Gordon where it hurts, by going after his daughter.

Chicken, Dynamite, Chainsaw[]

Along with accomplice, Jason Woodley, they managed to intercept an Uber that picked up Gordon's daughter, Hayden Tannenbaum, along with her friend, Allison Becks, the daughter of alderman Colin Becks, along with Woodley would take the driver out of the car. The pair then they threw him to the ground and began to beat him, before stealing his wallet and phone. They made off with the girls and would take the girls to an empty apartment, where they would keep them tied up.

Reid and Woodley soon felt that someone was coming, as CPD had tracked the phone of the Uber driver there. The two thieves started to argue, until they decided to move the girls at once, so they untied them. As soon as they released her, Hayden worked up the strength and ran before she jumped out a window, alerting the officers who just arrived. A shootout occurred after Reid peeked out the window, his partner, Woodley would stay in the house, distracting the officers while Reid escaped with Allison. Woodley is finished off after being shot to death by Antonio Dawson, while Reid would take advantage of the rampage to flee with Allison Beck, placing her in the trunk of the car and then flees the scene, something witnessed by Jay Halstead.

Detectives Jay Halstead and Alvin Olinsky visit Woodley's mother, and she ends up telling them that Reid was a possible accomplice, causing Intelligence to discover his connection to Gordon and the kidnapping. They looked into Reid's history and found out his history with Gordon. When interviewed, Hayden revealed that she spotted Gordon talking with Woodley and possibly Reid a week prior. After Gordon was brought in and pressed by his family, he reveals that Reid contacted him earlier on who Allison was and after being told who her father was, he gave him the latter's number, so Reid would likely contact Colin Becks to be paid a large sum of money.

Indeed, Colin gathered the money after Reid called him for Allison's return but ordered the cops not be involved. Colin's phone was tracked to an old church, where Reid was holding Allison hostage on the second floor. Antonio Dawson and Erin Lindsay break into the church and find Reid arguing with Colin Becks, who wants to see his daughter before he gives the ransom money. The pair are alerted when Dawson and Lindsay enter the room, Reid believed Colin set him up and angrily yells "I said no cops!" and proceeds to shoot him in the shoulder. He enters a standoff with the cops, as Dawson demands that Reid tell them where Allison was. Entering a standoff, Reid replies that they were never going to find her and that they were going to need him to find her, while requesting they let him go.

Thanks to some blueprints from the church, Hank Voight and Alvin Olinsky find Allison in an old music room, Hank informs them that they have rescued Allison, meaning Reid has lost his leverage. He then gives the go ahead to shoot Dryer, Halstead complies and shoots Dryer in the leg, incapacitating him and allowing Dawson and Lindsay to arrest him. Allison is reunited with her father who only suffered a through and through shot to the shoulder.

He would later be charged with the kidnapping of Hayden Tannenbaum and Allison Becks, shooting at cops, as well as the assault on Colin Becks and the Uber driver. He was subsequently incarcerated again for all his crimes.
