Biography[]

Season 1[]

In Now Is Always Temporary, Meredith is mentioned when Lexi tells her father that her mother is having company with Aunt Peg.

During A Material Witness, Meredith is introduced when she worried that Lexi is the sole witness to a shooting of a gang banger and will likely testify (and becoming a surefire target to the gang). She implores Alvin and Hank to carry out the investigation and hunt for the likely suspect to prevent it. Despite their efforts, their work only guarantees Lexi will have to testify if the case goes to trial. She reassures her worried father that, despite the danger, it's the right thing to do. Meredith's concerns were put to rest, as Hank threatened the gangster with unending torture in prison should he talk about Lexi.

As of The Docks, Meredith is shocked when Alvin comes home from an emotional case and tells her that he wants to restart their marriage.

Season 2[]

During Called in Dead, she is taken hostage by two thug brothers. when Alvin returns home, he calls out to Meredith and he finds her tied into a chair and held at gun point. The men demand that Alvin go back to the district and retrieve their drugs or his wife dies. While Alvin goes with one of them to retrieve the drugs, Meredith stays in the house with the remaining brother who had gun to her head. After he received confirmation that Alvin complied, he prepared to kill Meredith as a loose end. However, with the help from Hank, Alvin kills one of the brothers and brings in the remaining one after she begged her husband not to kill him. She tearfully embraced her husband.

In The Three Gs, Meredith calls Hank to help with Alvin after he is bothered by a case. Hank agrees to it and go to the garage. After the case, she eats dinner with her family before Alvin reveals a surprising guest, Lexi's boyfriend Jason. She is pleasantly surprised but pleased with Alvin letting him join to eat with them while Alvin describes him.

Season 3[]

In Actual Physical Violence, at dinner with her family, Alvin reveals the existence of his other daughter Michelle Sovana born from his affair while on assignment. Meredith was stunned by this news, even telling him that he needs to leave while Lexi is reduced to tears.

During Debts of the Past, she has calmed herself and visits her husband at work. She encourages him to get a paternity test to confirm whether Michelle is really his daughter before he makes it an irreversible effect on their family.

In A Dead Kid, a Notebook and a Lot of Maybes, Alvin later signed some papers to acknowledge himself as the legal guardian of Michelle. This is met with outrage by his wife who promptly kicks him out and he and Michelle go to live with Adam.

Season 4[]

In Emotional Proximity, Meredith's daughter, Lexi is wounded in the hospital after a fire at the Kimball Factory. A crossover with One Chicago showed Alvin asking Chief Boden to go back in for Lexi. They do and recover her, but Will Halstead tells Meredith and Alvin she has burns on 60% of her body. They are hopeful until Lexi goes into heart and organ failure, after which Will tells Alvin she won't make it. Lexi dies with Alvin and her mother by her side at the age of 19. Alvin promises Meredith that he will find the culprit, which he later succeeds at. She and her husband pay tribute to their daughter at a memorial.

Season 5[]

Meredith returns to visit Alvin in prison. She tries to get him to change his mind about taking the fall for Voight, unable to comprehend his loyalty to him. After crossing paths with Hank after visitation hours ended, she angrily tells Hank that he should be in Alvin's place, losing any good will towards him.[1]

She contacts Trudy to tell her that she doesn't want Hank to attend Al's funeral. However, he does in secret.[2]
