Plot[]
When brought in, Blue refuses to cooperate not even giving his real name or admitting to owning the drugs, despite being threatened with a lengthy sentence in prison with the incriminating evidence. Blue calmly tells Halstead and Ruzek that he wasn't a corner boy that's going to snitch. He demanded they bring him food, since he was hungry and they leave him to sit in the cage. Jay tells Voight that Blue isn't talking and announces his intentions to contact the ASA to charge him but Voight orders that his arrest not be announced because they might tip off his conspirators though gives permission to wiretap his phone and run him through the system to learn his identity.
Alvin comes home with flowers but notices something is off. Meredith calls out to him, and Alvin finds her taken hostage by two thug brothers. Alvin sees her tied into a chair and held at gun point. The men demand that Alvin go back to the district and retrieve their drugs. While Alvin goes with one brother to retrieve the drugs, being warned that his brother stayed with Meredith and has a gun to her head. The gangster reveals all he has to do is send the text if Alvin alerts his coworkers, something Alvin understands. Alvin then goes inside and retrieves the drugs from lock up before going back in the car and show the gangster the drugs. Soon a shot is heard and Alvin steps out, revealing he killed the gangster.
Returning to the Olinsky house with back-up, Alvin has the squad go around the house while he sends the text to the remaining brother. After he receives “confirmation”, the gangster tells Meredith that her man came through, but she is no longer needed and prepares to kill Meredith. However, Voight walks in the house, demanding he put down the gun while the gangster asks about his brother and threatens to kill Meredith when it is implied that his brother is dead. At that moment, Alvin comes behind him with a gun pressed to the gangster's neck and threatens to shoot him if he shoots his wife. He complies to their demands and surrenders, while Voight says that they don’t need to bring him in and Alvin appears tempted to shoot him, scaring the man but Meredith talks some sense into her husband, and he spares him. While Voight aggressively arrests the thug, Alvin frees his wife who clings to him out of sadness.
At the precinct, Hank brings in the burglar while berating him for his stupidity of threatening a cop and his wife. The others ask Alvin if he's alright, Alvin replies that he is fine and ask how the thugs found his house, as Kevin says that he reported that someone was helping the thugs. Hank then has Antonio, Ruzek, and Kevin leave with Blue while they talk to the remaining thug but he does not give up anything. Alvin proceeds to talk with him taunting him about the death of his brother and how he has killed more people than him. Even still the man does not talk.
Meanwhile, Platt assigns Burgess and Roman to visit potentially dangerous people who might want to harm an important visitor. She also partners them with a K-9 Officer Roman's ex-partner and girlfriend Jenn Cassidy.
Intelligence narrows down leads and discover Blue is really named Carl Johnson while the two thug brothers that showed up at Alvin's house are Jamal and Jesse Selley with notorious reputations. It is noted all three should have been locked away but were represented by a Public defender. Alvin also realizes that his name was signed on the paperwork, so anyone presiding over the paperwork can find out where he lived, revealing how the Selley brothers got to his house.
They initially suspect the judge (who presided over their cases) of letting the felons go but it turns out he is innocent and further investigation reveals that it is actually Evan Lormer, a public defender who forged the court documents for the three to get probation. When Evan tries to flee after finding out the cops are after him, they're able to corner him with him breaking his nose in his attempted escape. It is confirmed that he is the kingpin after finding stacks of money in his trunk.
Kim finds herself in the middle of Sean and his ex-girlfriend Jenn as they continue to argue. Jenn reveals to Kim of how she is engaged and her time with Sean. It also becomes apparent that Sean and Jenn still have a lingering feeling for each other, which is noticeable to both Kim and an amused Trudy.
Very soon, Kim complains about this to Adam and expresses her worries that they might end up like this but he assured her that they will not.
They bring in Evan and after questioning his actions, Evan reveals that he helped the criminals out because he was tired of seeing the corrupt system and because he wanted in on the cut. However, Jay and Lindsay tell him that the drugs that his lackeys sold were killing kids. Although he is initially surprised, he is unrepentant in his choices and says if it wasn't his drugs it would have been someone else who killed them.
When they arrive at another house Kim goes to answer to the door while leaving Sean to argue with Jenn and finally her patience is tested and she tells them to stop and open the door but is shot immediately. This alerts Sean and Jenn who quickly call for an ambulance while one investigates.
