Buried Secrets is the nineteenth episode of Season 7 of Chicago P.D.
Summary[]
After a night drinking at a bar, Ruzek witnesses a woman being kidnapped and tries to go after her, but crashes the vehicle that he has commandeered. The Intelligence unit races against the clock to find the missing woman. Voight later discovers that the victim's father might have something to do with the kidnapping. Meanwhile, Burgess considers reconciling with Ruzek.

Plot[]
Intelligence visit the Henslow home and meet Charlotte's father Wade who is dismayed to hear his daughter was taken. Charlotte's mother Laura comes in and denies that her daughter has been snatched before trying to contact her but Hank tells her that it is true. Hank also speculates that Wade was already aware of this, because he did not reach for his phone like Laura did. Hank speculated that Wade has already spoken to the kidnappers and they probably threatened him to not go to call the police. After a while, Wade confesses that this is true, as he was sent a video and justifies his actions that he did not want to endanger the life of his daughter because the men wanted a ransom of $2 million. The video is of Charlotte begging her parents to help her.
Intelligence finds the building where Charlotte was held and find two dead bodies but no Charlotte. Further investigation reveals one man is a former cop who served as security for Wade. They bring in Wade who is shocked to learn his security guard is dead and he reveals the identity of the kidnappers Gary Stevens who is the cousin of the other dead man. It is also revealed that Gary's son worked for Wade and is currently missing after his father put out a report to Detective Parker.
Kevin and Rojas go to visit Detective Parker who tells him about Gary Stevens and his son Dylan. He reveals that Gary told him that Wade and Dylan were having an affair but he did not pursue the case because Dylan had a history of causing trouble and Wade Henslow appeared credible. He also reveals that Gary came to the Henslow house, making threats before but Wade was not worried because he had security.
Kevin and Rojas then go to their Sergeant and tell him that they did more research into the case and found there was more to Wade and Dylan shown through surveillance photos of the two meeting and hugging. Hank proceeds to confront Wade with this knowledge and he denies sleeping with Dylan but does not reveal why he lied to Parker. Jay soon reveals that they found the car that belonged to Gary at a certain location. Hank has the team set out to rescue Charlotte.
They are shot at by Gary but duck down for cover. Soon Hank contacts Gary Stevens and ask for confirmation on Charlotte, who he says is fine. Hank states that he is going to need proof before Gary allows her to talk with them and have her say she is fine. Gary starts to voice his demands. Hank promises to give him his money but Gary says Wade lied and he never wanted money he only wanted his son suspecting that Wade was involved with his disappearance. He gives them an hour deadline to bring Wade to him or otherwise he would kill Charlotte. With this, Hank tells the squad to get Wade even drag him there because he wants answers now.
Intelligence proceed to bring in Wade Henslow, angry at his lies and says Gary wants him to come clean about Dylan while he tells them Gary is simply crazy. They are contacted by Gary again and allow him to speak with Wade who begs for his daughter to be released, promising money if he does. However, Gary refuses money and demands that Wade tell him and the cops on what happened to his son. Wade frantically denies any knowledge of Dylan but Gary is not convinced and even shows Charlotte in the window display with a gun to her head promising to shoot her if the truth is not revealed. Wade is horrified but keeps saying Gary is lying. Having enough, Hank proceeds to grab Wade demanding answers on whether he was really sleeping with Dylan and asks if he killed him because he was worried that the latter would expose him for being gay. Hank tells the pleading Wade if he lets his daughter die for a petty reason then he will kill Wade himself. However, Wade does not answer only weeping that he did not do anything. Gary starts to countdown to Wade before a shot is heard, having been fired by Jay who took advantage of the commotion.
Hank then orders everyone to breach the area and they were able to reach the room where a wounded Gary is holding Charlotte. Gary shouts at them to leave him alone but Adam stops his team from breaching and is able to enter the room after assuring Gary that he will not hurt him. Gary continuously demands to find out what happened to his son, knowing that Wade was involved in someway. Adam asks his team to hold back something Hank agrees with.
Burgess and Rojas then track the GPS of Wade's car and find out that he had went to his house after meeting with Dylan. They also see that Dylan was in the car slumped over as Wade was driving. Getting a possible lead, Hank has the two to go to the Henslow residence and have the K-9 help them search.
As this goes on, Adam speaks with Gary about Dylan's disappearance. Still wounded from the bullet, Gary confesses that the Detective that he spoke to about his son disappearing did not do anything. However, Adam tells him it is possible that they missed something and asks about the last time he talked with Dylan. It is revealed Gary last spoke with Dylan on Gary's birthday and he was worried about his son when he strangely disappeared because in their last conversation Dylan stated he was going to confront Wade about his lies, because Wade had kept promising to leave his family so that they could be together. Gary proceeds to state he thinks Wade killed Dylan and covered it up so that nobody would know of their relationship, before he taunts the stunned Charlotte with this knowledge of how her father was living a double life, but Adam tells him to focus on him. This conversation is heard by Hank who seems to confirm his theory of Wade and Dylan's affair.
Meanwhile, Burgess and Rojas reach the Henslow's home and inform Wade's wife Laura that they have located Charlotte and revealed that the kidnapper took her daughter because Wade was having an affair with his missing son. Laura refuses to believe it until Rojas shows her the pictures of her husband hugging Dylan, confirming it's true. They also revealed to the shocked woman that Wade was the last person seen with the young man, so he must have had a role in his disappearance. They inform her if she wants to save her daughter to take her to the car.
Once at the car, they find there was blood inside that was cleaned, meaning someone tried to wipe away evidence of a struggle. Mrs. Henslow is horrified while Kim questions her on her husband's behavior two weeks ago. She reveals after lunch with Charlotte that she noticed her husband (who was supposedly at home) had mud on his clothes, as he came from the woods on the property. With this, Intelligence gets the dogs and scour the woods until they locate a spot.
It is revealed to be a body, identified as Dylan who was buried by Wade. They proceed to report to their Sergeant on how they found Dylan before they send this picture to Adam who rescues and has Charlotte leave out the room after noticing Gary was unconscious for a while. Adam then shows this picture to Gary who sadly mourns his son, before dying from his bullet wound. Adam somberly apologizes to him on his loss.
Charlotte is then escorted out from the house by Adam with her father voicing how he is happy she is okay, before trying to hug her but she turns away from him and the police officers hold him until Kevin handcuffs Wade for his crimes of murdering Dylan. Hank proceeds to admonish Wade for nearly letting his child die and for killing someone, just because he couldn't tell his own family who he really was. Ashamed of his actions, a crying Wade tries to defend himself. However, Hank has had enough of him and has Wade booked for murder and gets Kevin to take him away.
After a long day Adam asked Kim to go out on a date nothing special just dinner between them as he needs something to get his mind off of the crazy day with Kim taking him up on his offer.

- According to Carrie, Adam is still hung up on his ex-girlfriend Kim.
- Voight was worried about Adam being drunk on the job like he was in Climbing Into Bed.
